Andrew Woodward's eclectic paintings capture cityscapes, landscapes, oceans, florals and animals.  Woven into narratives of motion and solitude, the paintings are intimate and vast. They are portraits of architecture and nature, archetypes of an ever-evolving world.   Explore my entire catalog of paintings, drawings and public art dating from 1997 to the present.

Come by the gallery November 7 to see my latest painting, "Grand Central Time," in person!  Visitors to the station from the past century intermingle amongst the crowds coming to and fro.

I moved to Boston in 1999 and have been captivated by the state since.  Through the years, my subjects have repeatedly featured iconic structures like the Hancock Building, Zakim Bridge and the Paramount theater alongside hidden treasures from the region.

My painting, "Union Memory," is currently featured at the ambassador's residence in Kowloon, Myanmar (Burma.)

My latest series, "Jessica and the Endless Horizon," explores the merging of the sky and ocean with a horizon line that carries on from one painting to the next.  The first five paintings in the series were inspired from a sojourn to Cape Cod, MA.  The series will continue on through the future as the horizon is infinite.

My inspiration for the "Wallflowers," series came from a visit to the Denver Botanic Gardens.  The acrylic paintings celebrate the rhythmic tangle of flowers, leaves, stems and buds as they create bursts of color and beauty.

New York City is an artist's paradise; the patterns of lines and shadows that are cast across the myriad buildings from endless angles offer a cornucopia of fascinating subjects.  My acrylic paintings have explored the city's greatest iconic structures and lesser known corners.  Recently, I have been revisiting and reimagining some of the paintings into the series, "Remember New York," which incorporates narratives from a variety of inspirations into the compositions.

I love the density of forests and the tangle of color that create rich and inviting vistas.  My forest series are portraits from various woods around the country.  From Radnor Woods in Tennessee to golden aspen in Colorado, the pieces are each uniquely fascinating yet undeniably related to the forests from around the world.

A Manual High School graduate,  I am a proud native and current resident of my hometown.  Sitting at the base of the wildly inspirational nature of the Colorado rockies, the city itself is a global icon.  Fascinating architecture from its days in the wild west is intermixed with recent contemporary icons as this fast-growing city continues to evolve and flourish.  I anticipate exploring more of the city's endless possibilities on canvas in the near future.

In 2008, I painted, "Fifty State Animals," fifty 8 x 8" acrylic paintings portraying one official animal from each state in the union.  Today the series has diversified into a multidimensional art piece including a street art series across SE Denver and prints mounted on panels.
