Growing up in a house of musicians, Adam Manjiro Lesser started handcrafting guitars in high school. He studied Industrial Design at RISD where he was exposed to the broader world of furniture and fabrication. 

Adam founded Manjiro Designs in 2011.  He works and lives in a Red Hook warehouse studio he custom retrofitted with his wife Ellen Reid, a Pulitzer winning composer and sound artist, their young daughter and his temperamental motorcycles.
